an intimate space for gatherings, dinners, and small celebrations
Max Guest Capacity: 80 banquet seating; 120 cocktail party; 200 theater seating
The Story
This smaller, more intimate event space is named for Deborah Bailey’s late mother in law, Emma Louise Little Bailey, Coley Bailey’s mother and the lovely epitome of a refined and modest Southern lady dedicated to her family and her church.
For decades this space was home to Whitaker Furniture. Upstairs was the sewing room, where well known seamstress Eddie Eliiott created many beautiful draperies. Looking for those today? Find Eddie, and her first sewing table, at 67A First Street.
Today, this pleasant open space is often used for birthday parties and showers, rehearsal dinners and smaller civic and service club events.
The Space
Light and airy, the facade of this building was rebuilt in 2022, along with the dimmable track lighting and AC equipment.
The beautiful cast iron staircase was built by local Harrell Metal Works, and forms a wonderful backdrop for photographs.
Miss Emma’s is also part of a row of lovely retail stores. Heading west on First Street, see artist Jean Bryant’s studio and ministry, Square Market Coffee Shop and Caldwell Winchell Antiques as well as E&E Designs & Upholstery and a clothing store.
Related Spaces
Miss Emma’s is connected to The Snug, at its rear, and through that to the Main Hall & Loft and The Patio and The Garden outside. These in turn connect to The Hide.
